Join us for our lunch lecture during Global Weeks on Nov 19, at 12:15 and listen to Charlotta Bauer from the European Foundation for Democracy talking about preventing radicalisation by empowering frontline practitioners!
Imagine you are at work and suddenly two teenagers in your group start a fight and you hear one shout at the other “You and your family are just immigrants who colonise other people’s lands.” “You invade and pose a major threat to our European society. You should be kicked-out of our country!” You recognise that some of the ideas and words used are part of anti-immigrant conspiracy theories.
In what ways would you react? How should you tackle this situation with your teenagers?
On November 19, Charlotta Bauer - LiU-alumni and Programme Manager at the European Foundation for Democracy - will talk about in what ways we can prevent polarisation and radicalisation among young people by empowering frontline practitioners (FLPs) (teachers, social workers, etc.). During the discussion she will also present EUROGUIDE; a project co-funded by the European Union that aims to offer FLPs practical tools to respond to polarising narratives and related challenges that they can encounter in their daily work with youth.
Join our lunch lecture and learn more about how and why empowering FLPs is important, and how it can consequently contribute to the prevention of youth radicalisation, polarisation, and extremism.

What is EUROGUIDE?
EUROGUIDE is an online platform for FLPs in 5 EU countries: Belgium, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden. The online material for Sweden consists of a handbook for FLPs, a quiz to use with young people and a simple online training programme about the online platform itself and its various functionalities.
